Adam Wax, PhD - Founder and Chairman

Dr. Wax is a Founder of Oncoscope and the inventor behind the technologies used by Oncoscope. He is also an associate professor in the Biomedical Engineering Department in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. Dr. Wax's research interests include optical spectroscopy for early cancer detection, novel microscopy and interferometry techniques. He has published over 50 papers and holds 5 patents. Dr. Wax received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a B.S. in physics from SUNY Albany, an MA and a Ph.D. in physics from Duke University, and completed his postdoctoral training at MIT.

 

Perry A. Genova, PhD - President and CEO

Dr. Genova is an accomplished biomedical professional with expertise in medical and pharmaceutical product innovation and development. Previously, he served as Global Vice President and Dose Form Leader for Metered Dose Inhalers with GlaxoSmithKline in Evreux, France. From 1996 through 2006 Dr. Genova was Vice President of Biomedical Engineering at Kos Pharmaceuticals where he built an integral part of Kos' lung delivery franchise while serving as the Project Team Leader for Kos' Inhaled Insulin program. Dr. Genova has authored over 30 scientific papers and presentations and has received 20 US patents to date. He has also been principally involved in a number of successful startup ventures including Quill Medical (acquired by Angiotech in 2006) and IEP Pharmaceutical Devices (acquired by Kos Pharmaceuticals in 1999).

 

James Dougherty, MD

Jim Dougherty is a co-founder and general partner of Arcus Ventures Fund (AVF), an oncology focused venture capital fund based in New York City.  AVF was founded in 2007 and invests in therapeutics, devices, diagnostics and services related to cancer. He is a medical oncologist trained at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he was also a faculty member and served as Deputy Physician in Chief for 5 years overseeing all clinical operations for the center. He is a graduate of Georgetown University, Hershey Medical School of Penn State University and received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Matthew Megaro

Mr. Megaro serves on the Board of Directors and also provides Oncoscope with regular consulting on ongoing operational matters. He is an expert in development stage biotechnology and medical device companies, most recently as President and CEO of Quill Medical, Inc., a wound closure products company that he co-founded in 1999 and sold to Angiotech Pharmaceuticals in 2006. Previously, he was President of Trimeris, Inc., a biotechnology anti-viral company that he took public in 1999. Before Trimeris, he was CFO of Athena Neurosciences, which went public in 1991 and was sold to Elan, PLC in 1997. Mr. Megaro is the CEO of QSR Holdings, he is a director of Humacyte, Inc. and he serves as Executive in Residence for the Duke University Fuqua School of Business. He is also an inventor on six issued and pending patent applications on various medical device products. He received his B.S. degree in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley.

 

Lister Delgado, MBA

Mr. Delgado serves on the Board of Directors. Mr. Delgado is a Vice President of NC IDEA, holding responsibilities that include deal sourcing, business plan review, and leading and assisting investment due diligence efforts. Lister joined NC IDEA in 2003 after working as a consultant to several technology startups and having worked as a venture associate with the First Flight Fund. Lister initially spent five years as an engineer in the telecommunications field in both software and hardware design. Lister has a B.S. from Brown University, an M.S. from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
